How Power Rankings Work
Power Rating Formula:
Power Rating = Self Rank Score + Win % Score + SoS Score + Bonuses
Where:
• Self Rank Score = (Self Rank ÷ 10) × 100 (0-100 points)
• Win % Score = Win Percentage × 100 (0-100 points)
• SoS Score = (Avg Opponent Rank ÷ 10) × 100 (0-100 points)
• Base Total = 0-300 points
• Bonuses = Margin + Quality Wins + Grade Level
Where:
• Self Rank Score = (Self Rank ÷ 10) × 100 (0-100 points)
• Win % Score = Win Percentage × 100 (0-100 points)
• SoS Score = (Avg Opponent Rank ÷ 10) × 100 (0-100 points)
• Base Total = 0-300 points
• Bonuses = Margin + Quality Wins + Grade Level
Calculation Factors:
- • Self-Selected Rank: Team's chosen ranking (1-10 scale) - 0-100 points
- • Win Percentage: Games won ÷ total games played - 0-100 points
- • Strength of Schedule: Average ranking of opponents faced - 0-100 points
- • Scoring Margin Bonus: Average point differential × 2 (capped at 50 points)
- • Quality Win Bonus: Bonus points for beating higher-ranked teams (capped at 30)
- • Grade Level Bonus: +10 points per game played up in grade level
